傳統CCD中的每個像素由一個二極管、控制信號路徑和電量傳輸路徑組成。 Super CCD采用蜂窩狀的八 邊二極管,原有的控制信號路徑被取消了,只需要一個方向的電量傳輸路徑即可,感光二極管就有更多的空間。 Super CCD在排列結構上比普通CCD要緊密,此外像素的利用率較高,也就是說在同一尺寸下, Super CCD的感光二極管對光線的吸收程度也比較高,使感光度、信噪比和動態(tài)范圍都有所提高。

那為什么 Super CCD的輸出像素會比有效像素高呢?由于人眼對綠色較為的特點(550nm正是黃綠色光),CCD普遍使用G-B-R-G的方式來安排像素矩陣,也就是說用4個感光點來組成一個像素點,以求達到更好的效果。而 Super CCD通過改變像素之間的排列關系,做到了R、G、B像素相當,在合成像素時也是以三個為一組,合成一個像素。因此 Super CCD像素的利用率較傳統CCD高,生成的像素就多了。
